Sasha and Stella

I picked up my first two foster felines today! I *thought* I was just going in for my consultation and get some more information about being a foster mom, but to my surprise they had two sweet babies that needed a place to go TODAY!!! Of course... I had to take them!! Sasha is perfectly healthy, but her sister Stella has an eye infection. Once her infection is cleared up they both can go to back to the Humane Society and be adopted! Since I only have dogs I needed to go buy everything for cats today!!! That shouldn't count as my "no shopping for a month" challenge... :) Please spread the word if you know of someone who could give these two a great home I would love to know about it!

Living in the 90's

So while more and more people are getting if their home telephones and are just relying on their cell phones I am now the opposite. I now have a home telephone! Not that I really wanted a home phone because I kind of enjoyed not having one. I only needed this for a new job I am doing in the evenings. I priced it out and it was a whole lot cheaper to add a home phone for only $15 a month than it would be to add unlimited minutes to my cell phone plan. So yeah.... I'm living in the 1990's. Me and my home telephone.

Ready to be a Foster Momma!

I've applied to be a foster mom for the Southwest Washington Humane Society! I was seriously toying with the idea of getting a third dog.... toying with it so much that I actually saw a few in person. Then I decided that it might just be a better idea to be a foster momma and help these animals find their forever homes.
My application is submitted and I am hoping that very soon I can bring home a new temporary friend for Simon and Ryder. I've applied to take on either dogs or cats! Yes... I did say cats. I'm not really a cat person, but now that it is just me and the boys I CAN, in fact, have a cat IF I wanted to! I actually think a cat might just be the perfect foster animal to start out with- low maintenance. Of course, I will be blogging about my new little friend(s) just as soon as they arrive!

Lifetime Movies

Why are Lifetime Movies SO entertaining?!? I just live for that lazy day where I can do nothing, but sit on my couch in comfy clothes and watch Lifetime. It's amazing how I can get sucked into these movies. Here are a few of my favorites....

Is it Friday yet?

It is Friday (or any day of the week) and you just opened your front door after hours at work and the kids were wild today. So clearly we all have those days where we just want to have me time and shut everyone out. Me time is actually very important for sanity. Here is how I roll when it comes to bath time....

 

*I always make sure the bathroom is clean and warm.

*I like to plan a themed bath, have a sleep inducing bath-all lavender products or all tropical products.

*I make sure that the bath is not TOO hot. That's not fun.

* I collect nice fluffy towels, and something warm and fluffy to put on when I get out of the tub.

* I ALWAYS have candles for a nice comfortable glow and my favorite slow jams playing.

*Add about 8-10 drops of essential oil into the water.

*On super stressful and tired days I like to use cotton pads soaked in ice cold water over my eyes to remove puffiness. Or a face mask while relaxing in the tub is great too.

*Sipping a nice cold beverage while in the tub is a MUST!

*When getting out a blot myself dry and go right for the body butter. 

*AND.... I ALWAYS wear a TIARA in the tub. It makes me feel like a true princess!

 

Now you all want to go take a bath don't ya.....?

Bikram HOT Yoga!

 

Today was my first HOT YOGA class. I am going to Vancouver Bikram Hot Yoga on 164th St.  

When they say HOT Yoga they really mean HOT Yoga. I have never sweat so much in my life. This is a 90 minute class and we do a total of breathing exercises and 26 different poses and postures. 

There were a few times where I was hot and dizzy and began to see "stars," but I am hoping that once I get a few more classes under my belt it was not be so bad.

According to a few calories calculators I burned 1,429 calories!!!

Now that's a workout!

It's Official....

All it took was me leaving for a few hours to go to dinner and I am just so lucky I get to come home to this....

Dear Mr. Spider,
I had big plans for this evening. I was going to grade some papers, take a walk with the dogs, run some errands. And then I saw you, there, on the wall. Just hanging out with your smug attitude. Normally in situations like these I would summon my husband, but he wasn’t home. So I put on my big girl panties and got the vacuum. That’s when you regrettably decided to move into an unknown location. Not cool, Spider. Not. Cool. I’m giving you approximately an hour to vacate the premises. I’ve left the front door open for you.

Mr. Spider,
Well, here it is, two hours later, and you haven’t left out the front door. I know, because I have been standing on this chair watching for you the entire time. I even gave you an extra hour as you probably move slow on account of your freakishly gigantic size. We appear to be at a crossroads. So you can either leave now, or I will be forced to vacuum every nook and cranny of this home, and that sounds really labor intensive. Please, just leave. I’m tired of standing on this chair.
