Read one book a month.
Unless you consider the Nordstrom catalog literature…I don’t read. I’m one of those people who has a million thoughts running through their head at one time, so when I sit down to read a book, I end up reading the same page 10 times over because I was thinking about what I had to do next…rather than focusing on the book. I want to make more of an effort, however, to unwind after a long day with some intellectual reading…rather than my guilty pleasure reality TV shows that are turning my brain in to mush!
From my previous attempts, I’ve always been drawn to books about people’s lives or true stories. So, with that, I would love any suggestions you guys have on some books I “must” read!
Learn how to use a round brush when blow drying my hair.
I’m sure some of you have already thought this of me before, but I’m going to say it out loud. I’ve been plagued with…BAD HAIR! The combination of thick hair AND not knowing how to style it is just a recipe for disaster. I’ve never really cared about my hair that much, so I typically wear it straight or in a pony tail. When the time comes to “care” however…I get real frazzled because I don’t know what to do.
Whenever I see someones hair that I really like and I ask them how they get that look... or “what’s your secret”…and their answer is always the same…round brush!
Blow drying your hair with a round brush will give you volume, style, and it eliminates the need for a straightener…so you aren’t doing as much damage to your hair. Seems simple, right? WRONG!
If you haven’t attempted to use a round brush before, I suggest having No More Tangles on hand, to help comb out the knots you make with the round brush. I’m not sure that I have ever come across a beauty trick that requires more talent than round brushing your hair. SO…I am giving myself a full year to learn how! Hopefully by this time next year, you all will notice a major improvement in these lousy locks.
Wake up an hour earlier than my usual “call time” every day.
I am NOT a morning person! Every single person in my life can attest to that too! If it were my choice…I would sleep AT LEAST 12 hours a night. As much as I do love to sleep…it takes up way too much time. Rather than pressing the “snooze” button 15 times in a row…I’m going to make a valiant effort to get out of bed the minute my alarm goes off. I want to take my time in the morning, have a cup of coffee, stretch…and maybe throw some curls in my hair, every now and then, to spice it up
I think all of these seem relatively do-able, so I’m going to give ‘em my best shot! Some of you might also be thinking I’m a little “late” to jump on the resolution bandwagon, as we are a fourth of the way through the month. There is too much pressure to “stay on track” during the month of January and February. So…if you have already “fallen off the wagon in 2011”…join me, and start fresh NOW!
Here’s to a new me…and a new you!
Happy New Year!
(In MARCH!)
