One Year Later

It has been 12 months and I still hurt as much today as I did then.

Grief is the price you pay for love.

I still cry everyday.

I like to believe that I can cry as loud as I need to in the shower because the sound of the water drowns out my tears.

The same goes for when I blow dry my hair.

Of course, this is not true because I am sure the whole neighborhood can hear me.

Another hard time for me is when I am driving alone in my car.

Sometimes I just burst into tears.

I'm not sure why it happens so often in the car, maybe because I am alone and I have time to think or maybe because I will see, hear or smell something that reminds me of him.

I've learned to not listen to people when they tell me it's time to stop crying or that it is time to move on or time to get "over it."

I'll never stop crying for the loss of what I had, but I may begin to cry less often.

I may never be able to completely move on; part of me has died.

 

Sauvie Island

I've been wanting to make a trip to Sauvie Island for some time now. I finally got the opportunity to go and what a lovely little place it is. I went with a few friends to hike the Oak Island Trail. We took the doggies along and it was a perfect place to take dogs. The place we hiked looked like this...

There are trails through the grass and water for the dogs to play in. Sauvie Island reminded me a lot of one of my most favorite places- Friday Harbor, Washington! What a cute little community, with some gorgeous homes.

For those of you who have no idea where Sauvie Island is (like I din't until a year ago) here is a map...

There is also a beach on the Island! I did hear someone say it might be a nude beach... I'm not sure about that. LOL Maybe I will have to find out for certain! 

In the fall, the island has a Corn Maze and a Pumpkin Patch. I am definitely going to go check it out this fall. There is also a place to do u-pick berries and wild flowers!

I just LOVE to discover new places around this city!!

11 Months

The Beginning Stages...

My summer project this year is getting my back yard in shape! Just two years ago sod was laid down in the front and the back yard and it was looking great up until about 10-11 months ago. About a year ago I decided that I wanted to put in a DECK! Wellllll.... after a $5,000 price quote to have to installed and not knowing anybody that can personally do it for me I decided that the deck idea was/is out.

Plan B: I will be laying gravel and stepping stones on the back part of the yard (not the side of the house where the grass is lush and green, but on the back strip where it doesn't get any sun and the grass cant survive.) Besides laying down gravel and stepping stones I wanted to get a patio set and a BBQ, not to mention lots of flowers!

Today, I found a table and chairs on clearance that I could just NOT pass up...

Now if I can just get started on all the NOT so fun stuff. I hope to have it done within the next 3 weeks.

BRITNEY!

So when I heard a few months ago that Britney was coming to town with Nicki Minaj I knew I wanted to go. When tickets finally went on sale and I looked at the price I saw that it was no longer an option. Ha. 

Until... I woke up Friday morning to find that Groupon was offering tickets for just $20! Ah-mazing! I knew I had to score this deal. So I did. I'm going with my lovely friend Toni and I cannot wait. I'm living the dream...Britney Spears on June 28th and then Backstreet Boys and New Kids on the Block just ten days later on July 8th! This is my teeny bopper dream come true 13 years later!

It's that time of year again...

I got my new VICTORIA SECRET planner!!

These are the BEST planners EVER and this is the 4th year in a row I have gotten one. The last two years I got to the VS store too late and they were sold out, so I have to pay double and get one on eBay. Ugh... But this year I've been calling WEEKLY to find out when they were going to be in and GUESS WHAT?!?! They are here. Yay! I can live another year all cute and organized! :)

Besides eBay another good place to purchase coupons is Coupons.com and The Coupon Clippers. Remember a Sunday paper is only $2.00, but you are getting only 1 of each coupon and many coupons you will never use.

If you are looking for deals at department like stores then a good places to look are...

Retail Me Not (great internet coupon codes there, too!) and my personal favorite is Printable Coupons.

Here is what I came across today....

Deal 1:

I had twenty (20) coupons for $2.00 off ANY Tidy Cat item... these are $1.77 at Walmart. These are just the 10 lb bags, but nevertheless they are all FREE with the coupons, so why not get them?? I actually DID have to buy these coupons- I paid $1.82 for all 20 of them on eBay, shipping included.

Deal 2:

These 3 packs (sample packs) of Cascade were on markdown at Walmart for just .25 a bag! I picked up 25 bags (75 total dishwasher packs) for $6.25. I had a $4 off ANY Cascade product making it just $2.25+ tax for all 25 packs - making it about $2.50 for all of them! I got this coupon in the mail for "liking" the Cascade page on Facebook.

Deal 3:

These Playtex Purse packs were on clearance for $1. I had four $1 off ANY Playtex product coupons, so it made all four of these absolutely FREE! These coupons I had been saving for awhile- they are from either the Sunday papers or they come in the boxes of tampons that you buy. 
You'd be surprised how many items you buy on a regular basis have hidden coupons tucked away in the boxes!

Well that does it this time folks.... all of that you see pictured above I got for about $2.50!

Can I just say...

I don't know why, but I absolutely hate it when people use the word "preggers." It actually makes me shiver with anger. Not because I'm not pregnant, but because I just don't like the word. 
I'm REALLY not a fan of the word "Prego" either.... it's like the tomato sauce.
And I'm probably in the minority here, but it I don't like when couple's say "we're pregnant!"  Yes, it took both people to make the baby, but it's really just the woman who is pregnant.

Seriously, these words just make me MAD!

Book Review: For Laci

If you've had any interest in the Scott Peterson case, this is the book you want to read. First, to put to rest the naysayers who cry "how could she sell out her daughter for MONEY!", all proceeds of this book are donated to an organization that searches for missing people. Now, as for the story, when you put down this book, every question you ever had will be answered (except for the one's that CAN'T be answered by anybody, except Scott Peterson, of course). There's so much NEW information, mind boggling accounts of all the Peterson's behavior (it's real easy to understand how Scott became what he did), although this is clearly not Sharon's intent. She write about the love of her life, Laci. It is everything rolled up into one book - the facts, the emotions, the aftermath. It is from the heart and written with the same dignity that Sharon displayed throughout her nightmarish ordeal. I couldn't put it down, I almost stayed up all night to finish this book. It is THAT good!

Something Old, Something New

Okay this may seem like a silly... VERY silly post, but I just had to post it for you. In 2008, I got the cutest front door mat for a wedding gift. I have gotten so many compliments on my door mat from the UPS Man, Postman, people that come door to door, you name it. I noticed a few weeks ago that it was fading quite a bit- I've had it for nearly three years! I thought it was time to replace it. So I headed out to Bed, Bath and Beyond with my $5 off coupon in hand (of course!) and to my surprise they still carry them!

So here is my something old...

It's so new and crisp and beautiful!! :)

I didn't have the heart to throw the old one away, so it now resides at my back door!

Oh, the simple things in life that make me so happy!

Book Review: American Outlaw

First of all, this book isn't written by Jesse James. He does not have the vocabulary that is used often in the book. I wish that ghost writers would get more credit.

In many respects, a sad story. Clearly, Jesse James had a tough time growing up, and the hard work he put in to get beyond that and develop a successful business is admirable. However, after repeatedly beating the odds, his impulsive nature keeps setting him back. For example, a budding football career derailed by hiding stolen goods for one of his friends. Leaping off the stage into an audience on a dare and getting seriously injured. While he does seem to care about his family, his need to be a bad boy usually comes first. This contributed to the breakup of his first marriage, and his third. He blames a lot of his problems on his troubled youth, but at some point in your life you have to stop blaming your parents and start looking in the mirror.

If you're looking for a lot of gossip about Sandra Bullock (which I kind of was- I really wanted to know what made this man tick), you won't find it in this book. She isn't mentioned until well over two thirds of the way through. He doesn't provide much detail about his infidelities to Sandra, except for speculating that maybe a bad boy and a sweetheart may not be the best match. He does blame her fame for not giving him the opportunity to get back together. He honestly seems to believe that he could have reconciled with her if not for the constant public attention. The problem here is that if you're smooth enough, it's easy to believe you can fast talk your way out of anything. The older you get, though, the harder it is to do - especially if you're in the public eye.
 In the end, it is sad to read a story about someone who has striven so hard to overcome a hard life, won, then just threw it away, hurting a lot of people in the process.

I absolutely love Groupon...Living Social...Mobba...Sharing Spree and other "coupon like" websites, but Living Social's Escapes website is really awesome! I have yet to actually purchase a vacation, but I full plan to veryyyy soon and you better believe that I will share with you when I do! I don't have a passport (in fact, it cost me a free vacation to Canada because I didn't have one-- boo) but I hope to have one by the end of the summer, so I can get in on some of the out of the country deals.
