Glamorous Life

I went to Portland on this "Snow Day" to get a pedicure at a really cute little place on NW 23rd Street. It had been a mildly stressful day and I was really looking forward to being pampered. As I sit down in my  big comfy, leather massage chair I quickly spot four women - 2 getting pedicures and 2 getting manicures. Now I am a people watcher... like a really INTENSE people watcher. These four women were clearly together - while the two were getting their toes done the other two were getting their nails done and then they would switch.  I wanted to settle into my chair and close my eyes and relax, but I could. not. stop. staring! Now I was trying to stare and eavesdrop as best I could without them noticing. Now you are probably thinking--- WHAT IN THE HECK IS SO INTERESTING ABOUT THESE FOUR WOMEN THAT YOU HAVE TO STARE AND EAVESDROP!!! Well, Let me tell you...

Now, I have not watched the Sex in the City tv series. I've seen it on from time to time and I've watched 5 or 10 minutes here and there, but I honestly know nothing about it. These ladies looked to me like they belonged on the show. All four were probably in their early to mid- 30's and obviously pretty successful. Let me tell you why I think this... well first of all they each had GORGEOUS hair, beautifully done make-up, very fashionable cute clothes and designer handbags. Each had either a Blackberry or an iPhone in which they  were replying to work emails, texting and making phone calls about work. From their conversations I gauged that all four were single, although one has had three dates with a guy and she kind of likes him. They talked about their various dates and how they couldn't find men that were worth their time. They talked about shopping. Now not MY kind of shopping... Old Navy, Target, or Victoria's Secret. They talked about shopping at little boutiques or a weekend in London for the newest and hottest styles. They talked about drinking cosmopolitans and French wines.
I forgot to mention I was texting my BFF, Monica the ENTIRE time and letting her know about all I was witnessing....errrr ummmm spying. I heard all about their weekend plans.... what brand of shoes they were wearing and where they needed to call in their RSVP's for all their weekend party plans. Their friendships seemed so effortless.... they complemented each other so well and I could tell they were really close.
I picked up on the fact they they do this often (weekly) and they also each take turns paying.... It was $125 for the four of them, plus she left a $40 tip. That's a LOT of money for an afternoon of getting your nails and toes done (to me atleast). Then after she pays for that she requests one bottle of nail polish for each of them in the color that they had their nails painted, so they could touch up during the week. Then I'm thinking... "Hey, why did I never think of that?!?!"
This got me thinking.... how amazing would it be to be so successful. They obviously had great careers and were successful all on their own. How bad is it that even after they left I watched them walk out into their VERY nice cars! Sigh..... Jealous.
So I eavesdropped through half of my pedicure and then I went into a fantasy-land for the other half. I thought about how I would love to look so perfect everyday.... and to be successful and to fly to London to buy new shoes. Now these were nice women... they were very kind to the workers and polite to each other well-spoke etc. They were in no way stuck up women. They obviously were hard workers and they lived a good pampered life with the fruit of their labors.
Via text today Monica and I decided that we wanted to be successful, hard-working women like these girls. We want to be skinny and fit with cute hair and make-up. We want to spoils ourselves too!! Now how do we get there.... Step 1: Get Our Own Classrooms! :) Hahahahahahaha.
Now this is what I imagine to be real life Sex and the City women. I was (AM) so intrigued by what I saw today.
Now the only thing missing is a picture of them!! Geez, why did I not think to snap a pictures of these gals. Okay, maybe because that would have pushed my people watching to a whole new level.

I think only myself and Monica will actually get this blog, but hey it's okay!
