S.O.S ... Literally!

Sooooooo...... where to begin? I was doing dishes tonight and ran out of dish soap for my sponge, so I began to look under the sink. I had to take a bunch of stuff out to find it. Once I did I refilled my sponge and soap pumps then returned all my items under the sink. I go along my merry way doing dishes for about 5 more minutes. After I am done I wipe counters and walk into the living room only to find that my 8 weeks old puppy is eating an S.O.S PAD (you know... STEEL WOOL PAD!!!) Of course I panic! I call Alex... he's working and can't help me. I call my mom... always super calm about everything.. Thanks Mom, I am stressing here! ;o)
So I find the number for the emergency vet hospital here in Vancouver. What do they tell me...??? Oh... that it will be a $60 charge to talk to someone, so they can tell me if it's urgent to bring him in or not.
I gave him some milk and water, (anything to break up the chemicals in his tummy) gave him some dry food to help absorb any chemicals and/or cleaning products that may have been on that pad. Also, I was trying to get treats down him to fill his belly and then I gave him some Pepto to help settle his tummy in case it truly was upset.
Ryder is sound asleep right now and seems fine, (right after all he wanted to do was tackle big brother.) I researched online and most everything said he should go to the vet asap IF he ATE the pad. Well what about just chewing it and ripping it apart? I honestly do not know if he swallowed any or not... I can't imagine wanting to eat that. Ugh...
I'm going to watch him over night and if he seems to be acting odd or not feeling well I will take him to the vet in the morning. Needless to say I feel AWFUL that this happen on my watch. :o( I'm a bad mommy!
