Happy 4th

Deja Vu

So, after nearly 10 years of retirement my dad decided suddenly to return to work in Dutch Harbor, Alaska. 

He left on June 26th and will be gone until the end of August. All those feelings came back... stress, worry, fear about him being gone. I was 16 or 17 the last time that he left. He worked in Alaska- 2 months on and 4 months off since I was 8 or 9 years old. It was always very hard for me and felt sad when he was gone. It would hear from him only when the boat docked, but other than that not at all. I really thought that he was done with that and I would not have to worry about him leaving again, but I guess I was wrong. 

Technology has come a long way in 10 years and apparently there is email on the boats now, but still I have yet to hear from him. I watch the Deadliest Catch- I know what it's like and how dangerous it is out there. Hopefully once he is in a routine he'll be able to call or email and give me a little piece of mind. 

Sigh....

Working Hard For The Money

Well, I have been at Nordstrom's for about 2 weeks now and it's going pretty good. The thing that I am struggling with the most is working nights and weekends. I am so use to a "teacher" schedule and being able to do whatever I want every night and weekend. I don't think I have ever had to say no to going places or doing things because of work and it sucks! I had plans to spend some time in Tacoma next week and my 4 or 5 day trip has now turned into an overnight trip only for me to return home early the next morning after the concert to get to work early. Ugh. Katie is coming to town for a visit next week and OF COURSE I will be working 3 of the 5 days we are together.

Retail has both good and bad days. Some days I will make great sales and then other days the store is DEAD and I don't even break $200! Not good. The Anniversary Pre-Sale begins on the 5th and it is expected to be veryyyyy busy and then on July 15th the Anniversary Sale begins for everybody ( not only card holders) then it will get EXTREMELY busy! 8 or 9 hours on your feet is KILLER- but all in all its been a good summer job so far!

Rose Garden Arena - Portland, OR

This was a FANTASTIC show!! I cannot even tell YOU! I would have no gone if it wasn't for finding $20 tickets on Groupon and who would have thought we would end up 20 rows back from the stage! After the 2 opening acts Nicki Minaj took the stage and she was awesome! I didn't expect that she should do so many songs, but she did quite a few and put on a great show.

After Nicki performed there was a 45 minute wait for Britney to take the stage. All the people who claim she does not sing live. . .  WRONG! Yes, she lip-synced on a few songs, but she always was singing live. She lacks the energy that she had years ago, but still it was a great show! I was pretty impressed and I we loved it!!

Best. Concert. Yet!

Why do we give up such fun things just because we get older? I don't have the answers to that, but I'm going to start doing some of these "childhood" things again. 

Why not?

• Have Sunday Funday.
• Make Saturday night plans on Saturday night.
• Designing the cover of a mix cd with a Sharpie.

• Choreographing dances.
