You're Hired!

..... for a few weeks anyway. I was not fortunate enough to get the opportunity to teach regular summer school this year, which is a HUGE bummer. Sigh....

But on a positive note I will be teaching a program called Kindergarten Jumpstart!

 

This program runs from the middle to late August and it prepares kindergarten students for what they will be doing once kindergarten begins. I will be working Monday-Friday from 8:30am-12:00pm. It's a nice, easy, fun job, so I'm glad I got it. I think I may still need to search out other options for the rest of the summer.

Today was an "extreme couponing" kind of afternoon. I needed to stock up on some dog treats for the boys, but wanted a cheap way to do it. So with a few minutes of on-line research I came up with a few coupons that saved me about $32!! 

Here is what I got...

That's right a whopping $0.04!!! Can't beat that!

Not only were 8 bags of dog treat and bones basically FREE... a $3 off coupon for my NEXT visit! Thus, the title of this post because this is WINNING!!!

Book Review!

I'm 26, and obviously this book is geared to a younger audience. Still, I thought it was a cute book and got a kick out of reading it. It's written in a conversational style and it's easy to blow through in a couple of hours. I'm always surprised that Jenni is as young as she is...her wisdom at her age makes her seem much older. JWOWW is an interesting character on the Jersey Shore, and this book provided a few more insights into her personality.

All in all, not sorry I spent a few hours of my life reading it.

My Favorite "Chore"

I was chatting with some friends the other day, and the topic of grocery shopping came up.  Ironically, we were able to form an entire conversation around it.
Though I know this sounds like a silly topic to write about, grocery shopping can be a daunting task for some.  For me…it’s a place of solitude and relaxation!
There are many reasons why I love my weekly trip to the grocery store, but to name a few…
1. I love food.
2. There is a Starbucks in my grocery store.
3.  I use it as my “me” time.
Typically, I will try to get to the grocery store on a Sunday, when I have some extra time to truly enjoy the process.  Before I go, I write down a list of all of the things I must get, so that I don’t forget anything, but my purchases certainly aren’t limited to this list.  I throw on some comfortable clothes, make sure my iPod is all charged up, and hit the road.
Everyone knows that grocery store parking lots are a nightmare.  Seldom do you find a spot close to the entrance, or one with enough space for you to comfortably open your car door without bumping the car next to you.  When you do find that lucky spot…chances are there is a cart smack dab in the middle of it!  When I am parking…I don’t look for a spot closest to the entrance necessarily.  I look for a spot closest to the “cart corral”!  Though I love grocery shopping…when I’m done…I want to get out of there!  Parking next to or near the cart corral makes for a very quick exit after your groceries have been loaded in to the trunk because, you don’t have to walk a mile to put your cart away.
The first thing I do when I get in to the store is get my Starbucks Caramel Macchiato.  Walking up and down the snack aisles make my mouth water, so having something to sip on while shopping stops me from making those impulse junk food purchases! 
I then grab my cart, put my headphones on, rock out to some tunes, and go!  Listening to music while I shop helps me to relax and drown out all of the other people in the store.  It’s at this point, that I have my most “Zen” moments.  It’s just me, Britney Spears, and my macchiato.
Ahhh…sounds like heaven doesn’t it!


While embarking on a grocery trip, I follow the same path every time I shop.  I go aisle by aisle, as I check everything off on my list, while grabbing some extras along the way.  I typically eat the same type of stuff, but I love bringing home something out of the ordinary every now and then.
After making it through my list…and checking it twice…it’s time to pay the bill!
I think it’s fair to say that most people look for the checkout line with the least amount of people or with no one in it at all.  Me…not so much!  I like to have at least one person ahead of me, and a full “belt” of food in front.  Sounds strange right? 
Nothing gives me more anxiety than being rushed…in any part of my life.  When I’ve got an open lane and a clear belt, I feel rushed in putting my groceries up as fast as I can in order to slide my credit card through before the check out clerk is waiting on me!  Yikes!  Instead, I like to slowly empty my cart, with plenty of time to spare to slide my card through and have a “Good Afternoon” chat with my clerk.  It just makes the process feel a lot more relaxed!  After all, this is my “me” time…so what’s the rush!
I then unload the groceries in to the car, walk only a few steps to the corral for my cart…and I’m off!
I may sound a little crazy and OCD, but grocery shopping is something that has to be done often, so why not make it enjoyable!

Wordless Wednesday

just thowing it out there

I think it's time to let go. That is hard to do because part of me will be in love with him for the rest of my life.

Every time I see him all cool, calm and collected, I lose my breath, my heart starts pounding, and I am painfully aware that I am not over him and more likely than not he is, in fact, over me.

Today was just one of those days where everything I did reminded me of him and every song I heard somehow related to him. I hate days like today, because they remind me of the one thing I don’t have. Him.

Sometimes we must get hurt in order to grow; we must fail in order to know. Sometimes our vision only clears after our eyes are washed away with tears.

I know I'm not completely over him. He still crosses my mind several times a day, but with each one of those times, a feeling of contempt also passes through my heart. Maybe if this happens enough, my heart will become completely hardened to him, and I'll get to the point where he does not affect me anymore. I'll probably always miss all the little things. Like him driving with his hand resting on my knee.

I didn't ask for it to be over, but then again, I didn't ask for it to begin. For that's the way it is with life, as some of the most beautiful days come completely by chance. But even the most beautiful days eventually have their sunsets.

How is it possible...

... that I have 9 people in my life right now that are all pregnant and all due within about 2 weeks of each other. CRAZY! 

Everyone is due in early to mid-October! 

I thought things like these come in 3's.... apparently they come in 9's!!

I better start saving now for all these baby showers I will need to attend this summer/fall! I'm definitely going to get MY baby fix!

Life Changing APP!

Now let me introduce you too.....My Style Fashion Assistant - I just downloaded this application yesterday but I am already in love! I am a huge fan of free applications and occasionally a $0.99 application but when I stumbled upon My Style Fashion Assistant, I just could not resist. This application allows you to basically import your entire closet onto your iPhone or iPod Touch. You can either import these photos by using the camera on your iPhone or you can upload them from your photos. Once your photo is uploaded, you can then categorize into what type of clothing it is, what brand it is and into what you would wear this item for (going out, casual, working out, fancy, business). Now you can view the items in your closet individually or mix and match the items into an outfit that you can save and refer back to later. Amazing! This application also lets you keep track of what you wore on what day with a fashion calendar and keep track of the items you want with a “fitting room.” Seriously, amazing application! Well worth the $1.99.

One of the features I am loving is the ability to filter out items while in the Mix & Match view. Instead of having to swipe through your entire closet, you can find the items you are looking for by filtering by type, category, season & color. BUT....My all-time favorite feature would have to be the ability to layer & accessorize each outfit. Before you could only save an outfit as a top, bottom & shoes. Now you can save the outfit & then open it again in the layer & accessorize mode which will allow you to pair the outfit with jewelry, jackets, hats, scarves, purses, belts & more!

Ohhhhhh Baby!

These books are HILARIOUS! You don't even have to be pregnant or a momma to enjoy these books.  I literally read them in 48 hours- all three of them. And if you know me I NEVER get through books that fast.

I can't wait to read her newest book! She may have just passed up Chelsea Handler and Tori Spelling as my new favorite author!
